Last week, our Apartment Life team at Autumn Lakes hosted a community game night! Your community is much more than where you live. It is a local network where you can connect and establish relationships. Our world has grown increasingly hyperconnected, and getting away from the digital world to genuinely interact with friends and family over a fun and strategic game can feel refreshing. Game nights with kids, teenagers, and young adults will help them strengthen their decision-making abilities and problem-solving skills and help them handle challenges in life.
Along with building communication and connection skills, games are also good for mental health. According to a study published by Frontiers in Human Neuroscience, games don't just relieve stress, but the laughing experienced by players can raise serotonin, "the happy hormone" that boosts healing for anxiety and depression. Engaging in games with others may give you a sense of belonging and connectivity, improving your mood, and decreasing feelings of loneliness. If you're looking for an entertaining way to de-stress and strengthen your mental health, keep an eye out for our next event! We couldn't be more thankful to our Apartment Life team for continuing to build relationships in the community and show people they matter!
